Wayne Wilkinson
Wayne Wilkinson has been
playing guitar professionally for nearly 30 years. As lead
guitarist with the Air Force’s premier jazz ensemble “The
Airmen of Note,” he has toured nationally and throughout
Europe and Asia, and performed concerts at Carnegie Hall and
The White House, and shared the stage with countless jazz
legends. For the past eight years, he’s been the lead
guitarist for The Dixie Power Trio, which has recorded five
CD’s and tours internationally. With over 20 years of
teaching experience, Wayne welcomes students of any level,
and excels with students wishing to pursue advanced jazz
studies. |

Cathy
Horner
Cathy Horner has been playing
the guitar for nearly 35 years, and teaching for 15 years,
including private and group lessons, guitar workshops and
camps. Her critically acclaimed solo acoustic performances
have included Woodsong Radio, the VCU auditorium, and
numerous songwriter showcases. Her original material and
deft guitar skill even earned her a feature article in
Guitar Player Magazine. Cathy is fluent in all guitar
styles, including traditional and modern finger style,
alternative and classic rock, and welcomes both electric and
acoustic guitarists, adults and children, beginner to
advanced. |

Tim Bray
A professional performing
guitarist for over 18 years, Tim Bray is a fixture on the
local and regional music scene. Since beginning teaching
guitar at Apple Music in 1993, he has taught over 30,000
individual guitar and bass lessons to hundreds of students
of all skill levels. He specializes in advanced rock,
country, and blues studies, applied music theory and
improvisation skills. His impressive performance resume
includes work with The Fabulous Sensations, Sean Michael
Dargan, Sugar-beet and his current band, Crown Vic. He is
currently a candidate for a Master of Education degree from
the University of Mary Washington. |

Keith
McConnell
Keith has been playing music
for nearly 20 years, and teaching locally for the past four.
He has played everything from musical theater to rock to
jazz, starting with a stint as bass guitarist for the
Maranatha Touring Choir. He is a founding member of the Clay
Mottley Band, and has played with local acts such as Ask
Fred, Lowboys, and many others. He currently plays bass with
the jazz act Third Stream, and jazz vocalist Ms. Kathy
Douberly, and plays guitar with the pop/rock band Luminosity
and the R&B group The Soul Providers. His teaching style
focuses on reading, theory, improvisation, and technique. He
is currently accepting students for beginner to intermediate
guitar or bass. |

Ken
Phillips
Since receiving his first
guitar at age five, Ken Phillips has had a lifelong passion
with all things guitar. Growing up, he performed regularly
in churches and various rock and blues bands. After a
successful 20-year career in business management, Ken
switched gears and began performing and teaching
professionally. Although he’s the lead guitarist for the
nationally known Robert Byrd Blues Band, Ken is equally
adept at teaching jazz, rock, pop and country, with a strong
emphasis on chord theory and construction, and
improvisational techniques. His lifelong music experience
and five-plus years of full-time teaching provide Ken the
wealth of knowledge and skills he imparts to his students. |

Mark Davis
Mark Davis is a talented multi-instrumentalist who enjoys
and appreciates a broad range of musical styles. He has been
playing violin and guitar since childhood, and performing
and teaching in the Fredericksburg, Va., area since 1995.
His teaching curriculum emphasizes proper technique,
intonation, music theory and music reading skills. His
lessons are tailored to the individual student’s needs and
musical tastes, whether child or adult. He is currently
accepting new students for violin/fiddle, electric and
acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo and viola. |

Claude
Arthur
A graduate of the University of Mary Washington Music
Department, Claude has studied classical guitar with Andre
Segovia protégé Jesu Silva, and contrabass Richmond Symphony
principal bassist Paul Bedell. While currently on tour with
ex-Commander Cody guitarist Bill Kirchen, Claude has shared
the stage with members of Jefferson Airplane, The Chris
Isaak Band, Counting Crows, The Mary Chapin Carpenter Band,
Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Dead Kennedys, The
New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Tubes, Dr. Hook, and The
Robert Cray Band, at venues such as the Philadelphia Folk
Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Fillmore West, the
Continental Club in Austin, Tx., the Lowell Massachusetts
Folk Festival, the Musik Fest in Bethlehem, Penn., the Black
Swamp Arts Music Festival in While Bowling Green,
Ohio, the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and Northern Virginia’s
Birchmere. Claude’s teaching specialties include beginning
and intermediate guitar, from rock to blues to jazz to
classical, beginning to advanced electric and upright bass,
beginning and intermediate mandolin, and beginning banjo.
All are taught with an emphasis on theory, style and rhythm.
